Watermelon Chopping 101
Watermelon ! Who doesn’t love it? It is such a sweet, juicy, cool treat that everyone of us has enjoyed it during the summers growing up. It is 91% water! So if you are feeling dehydrated, grab some melon.
It is also full of Vitamin C, lycopene, and citrulline. That means it’s supper healthy. That means it is super healthy for you in a lot of different ways.
They key to picking your watermelon falls into a few steps:
- does it have a yellow spot on the bottom where it laid on the ground
- is it a dull green on top
- does it feel heavier then it looks, remember it is 91%water
- thump it, you should hear a deep bass thump
If you can do those things, you have probably found a keeper.
Different people like their watermelon cut different ways. I am going to show you a few ways to do so.
Cut your watermelon in half
As a kid, I liked a long wide slice . You need to cut your half in half a second time.
Then cut your slices. So simple!
If your watermelon eater is under 7, the might need a smaller slice to fit their hands. Just slice it in half again.
My in laws like large chunks that look something like the next picture.
Now days, I prefer it to look like I find it in a restaurant. I gently cut the outer shell off.
It will look something like this.
Next, I cut it into slices of my desired thickness.
All I need now is some salt!
