Happy Birthday Oscar the Grouch!!!
Carroll Spinney has been the voice and puppeteer behind Oscar the Grouch and Big Bird since the first episode of Sesame Street in 1969.
It always amazes me that the voice my grand children are hearing is the same voice I heard in my childhood. It just seems so permanent. The show started 3 years before I was born, and is still on. Reality is Carrol Spinney has been Oscar the Grouch longer then I have even been alive.
I was born in 1972, which means I never knew him being yellow or orange. They say he is still orange under the green. He looks green because he never bathes and is covered in mold and moss.
Regardless, my favorite song from Sesame Street has always been I LOVE TRASH ! While his looks have changed, the song remains the same.
You might even remember our first giveaway was an Oscar the Grouch Pop Funko from Amazon.
I am not sure if my love stems from his grouchiness or something else. I Just know that Oscar has always been my Muppet.
Looking back it seems silly to try to imagine life without Sesame Street. As a child, it felt like we watched it from the time we woke up until the time we went to bed. As I got older my perception of time changed.
