THE BFG

The BFG

THE BFG answers every child’s question as to where dreams come from. Good dreams and bad dreams.

The Movie begins with Sophie in an orphanage. She is a curious child and one night she sees THE BFG. The BFG takes her to Giant Land because no one can know of the giants.

While in Giant Land, Sophie learns that there are 9 BIGGER SCARY MAN EATING GIANTS. Lucky for her BFG is not only the runt but he is a vegetarian.

The BFG

The mean giants are afraid of water.

In time, Sophie finds out that BFG’s job is to catch dreams and give them to people.  This part of the movie is just magical!

The BFG

Sophie eventually comes up with a plan to save children from the man eating giants.

In the end, Sophie is a hero and is adopted by the Queen. The movie ends with her living at the Queen’s castle.

I am not sure why the marketing team for THE BFG dropped the ball. THE BFG was written by Roald Dahl. Mr. Dahl brought us stories like The Gremlins, James and the Giant Peach, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Matilda, along with many many more.

THE BFG was directed by Steven Spielberg. Spielberg is a name that we all immediately recognize. Did you know Spielberg wrote The Goonies and Poltergeist? He also directed:  Jaws, ET, Indiana Jones, Hook, Jurassic Park, Catch Me if You Can, The Terminal, and Bridge of Spies. Not to mention he produced: Back to the Future, Harry and the Henderson’s, The Land Before Time, Joe Vs. the Volcano, American Tails, Men in Black,  Deep Impact, Twister, Animaniacs, Pinky and the Brain, Shrek, Monster House, Transformers, and so many more.

I would tell you what Movies Disney has brought us, but that would take about 500 pages of text.

What I am getting at is this movie was beyond incredible and yet I didn’t see it until 2 weeks after it came out because I had no idea what it was about.

When the signs first appeared in the theaters, both Bart and I thought it was going to be a BIG FOOT movie. Even once I found out it was Big Friendly Giant not Big Foot, I had no clue what it was.

I hope that people will give this movie the chance it deserved. If you haven’t seen it yet, you need to.
