Friday night, Bart and I went to see Ice Age because Bart is a huge fan! I had considered taking the granddaughter. When she was visiting earlier in the day, I turned on one of the older Ice Age movies and within 5 minutes she wanted to watch something else. So it was just Bart and I.
We went to the Regal Theater in Modesto. We viewed it on a 4K screen in 3D. Normally, I hate waiting in lines, but the Regal Theater is a Pokestop and that night there was a lure dropped.
The first thing I noticed was our ticket stub had info about a free digital download of Ice Age: Artic Blast. It is a free game available in the ap store.
We skipped snacks and drinks. We walked into the theater as the trailers started.
The story line is that a giant meteor is going to hit the earth and destroy the ice age. One of the characters noticed the meteorites were magnetic. They thought if they could shoot the meteorties in the air the giant meteor would change course. They decide their best best is a nearby volcano. They run into many obstacles trying to get there.
Once they do arrive, they must fill all the steam vents with rocks so the volcano has to explode with all the magnetic meteorites they placed in the volcano. It seems as all is well, but the volcano isn’t erupting. One character noticed a steam vent and stuck their walking stick into it.
The volcano explodes, the meteorites go into space, and the giant meteor changes course. They saved the world.
As always, Scrat is the comic relief out in space with his acorn.
I liked the secondary story line of the mammoth’s daughter preparing to get married and go off on her own adventures. The way her dad and fiance eventually bond, etc.
Obviously I didn’t retain character names or even types of animals very well. I am not an Ice Age fan in general, I went because I knew Bart loves it. It wasn’t bad. On my own, I am not sure I would have gone, but I did enjoy it. Or did I enjoy hearing and seeing my husband laugh?
