Homemade Lasagna

Last week, I mentioned in my Hit and Run post, that I had some fun posts planned. It was actually National Lasagna Day.  You have to promise not to tell anyone I shared this with you. This is my Mother-in-Laws secret lasagna recipe.

You are going to need to pick your favorite LARGE size jar of tomato based sauced. I love Ragu.

You can never have too much Mozzarella cheese in lasagna. I like getting my cheese in bulk at Costco.

You will need some Lasagne noodles. I went with Barilla.

The first thing you do is brown your meat. I made mine with a combination of ground beef and Italian sausage.

While the meat is browning you can start to boil your water for the noodles.

You will want to let your pasta boil for 8-12 minutes depending on the directions on your particular box.

Yes, that is cheese all over the stove. You will want to grease your pan in some fashion. You can use Pam or Olive Oil.

Layering is pretty self explanatory. Pasta, meat, sauce, cheese, repeat.

At your final layer you will just do sauce and cheese.

Put the pan in the over at 350 degrees.

Because everything was pre-cooked, you just want to watch for the cheese to melt and the top to look how you would like it to.

We generally pick up a loaf of garlic bread and add cheese. Depending on who is eating, some might have more cheese and some might have no cheese.

Put the cookie sheet in the oven. Like the lasagna, you are just melting the cheese.

Hopefully you are all starving now and heading to the kitchen!
