It’s National Love Notes Day! Do you leave love notes? What are your favorite memories involving love notes?

Today’s photos feature my daughter between the ages of 2 and 6. On Sunday she will be 27 years old. Happy Birthday Kiddo!
When my daughter was growing up, I used to put little love notes in her backapck as she’d head to school. At the time, Franklin Covey had a book out called Loving Reminders for Kids.
It was a book that I picked up and utilized, but never realized it’s impact on my daughter.

Between the ages of 6 and 9, My daughter went through various health issues. She eventually ended up in a long term care facility.

It was during the time she was in a long term care facility that I learned just how valuable those notes were to her. She asked me one day why she never got them anymore.
I searched desperately for those books, but they were no longer in print. Out of desperation, I reached out to the Franklin Covey group to find out if they knew of anywhere who still had them.
The initial response was no. I decided I would figure something out on my own.

A few days later, I got an e-mail from one of their employees. Someone had a copy of the book at home. Not only that, they were willing to send it to me for free. It was gently used, but that didn’t matter.
I made a point to give her at least one a week until they were gone.
I know the concept is simple. I know we all want to be told we are loved. To be told we matter. To have someone say you are special to me.
I am going to challenge you to get out there and send someone a love note tonight. Send a text. Send an e-mail. Leave a post it note on the bathroom mirror.
You never know how much it might mean to them.
