 Global Winter Wonderland

Last year I saw some commercials for the Global Winter Wonderland in Sacramento at CalExpo. For whatever reasons, I didn’t make it last year.

This year, when the commercials started, I got on-line to figure out when I could go and how to work it around my work schedule. It turns out that the Sunday after Thanksgiving both my husband and I had the day off, so we went. As you roam around, Christmas songs are playing on the speakers.

You will find today’s post has less talking and a lot more photos. I hope you enjoy!

Toy Land

One of my favorite things was the snow globe. I loved having the snow coming down on me.

By the ice skating rink there was a snow maze to walk through with many photo set ups.Global Winter Wonderland Global Winter Wonderland Global Winter Wonderland Global Winter Wonderland Global Winter Wonderland Global Winter Wonderland Global Winter Wonderland Global Winter Wonderland Global Winter Wonderland Global Winter Wonderland Global Winter Wonderland Global Winter Wonderland

Ice Skating

There is an outdoor ice skating rink. I am not sure how exactly an outdoor rink works in California, but with some Christmas magic, they made it happen! Skating sessions are for 45 minutes.

Under the Sea Activity Center

Global Winter Wonderland

This was a nice indoor adventure. The room was half black light with 3D Ultra Violet art work.  There were light cubes of various size that changed colors. The other half had an Under the Sea theme to the decorations. This room also was the location of one of the arts and craft projects we saw.

Circus of Lights

It was raining the night we went, so they shut down the stages. I completely understand from a safety standpoint. You can’t have acrobats and fire juggling acts on a wet stage.

Santa

How could I resist sitting on Santa’s lap? I told him I wanted a hatchimal, a fur real friend Torch my pet dragon, and, and, and. I sealed the deal with a kiss on St. Nick’s cheek.

Penny

Penny was supposed to be in one of the buildings, but we found her outside. Penny was very popular and everyone was patient waiting to take a photo with her.

Rides and Games

The carnival rides and midway were open. Somehow we decided that 1) we were just too old for carnival rides, 2) you never win the giant stuffed Shopkin, and 3) it started raining and we didn’t want to feel like drenched cats.

Arts and Crafts

The night we went, I only saw two places to make ornaments. =( It would have been nice to have more arts and crafts stations.

Holiday Market

Of the whole night, this was the biggest disappointment. In the building with Santa, there were a handful of vendors for things like tuperware, solar panels, and fudge. Outside of that building there was a Sleeptrain tent, a tent with clothing that lights up to music, and some light up remote control toys.

I was really hoping to do some holiday shopping but the vendors were not the type I would buy Christmas gifts from.

To top it off, the building that Penny was supposed to be in only had one vendor in it. They sold stockings and plushies. Then there was the sign, Cash only no cards.

Even if I wanted to buy something, they made it difficult at best.

Food

I really liked this decorated Pizza stand. It was the only one I noticed that was decorated. Besides the food court building (with like 6 different ethnic booths) we only noticed a couple of food trucks. I am going to go out on a limb and guess there might have been more food in the Midway area. We just didn’t find it.

Global Winter Wonderland

We ended up not eating anything. By the time we were hungry it had started to rain. The booths in the international food court just didn’t scream out to us. And, Once again, we didn’t want to feel like drenched cats.
