My Christmas Train Wreck

This holiday season, I am determined to celebrate Christmas. With that in mind, I picked up a Hershey’s Chocolate Cookie Train kit.

I found it kind of comical that the box has nutritional information. I mean really, who eats the gingerbread house a week after it’s built? Is someone actually going to eat the train? And if they eat the train, are they going to take the time to determine what is 1/18th of the train.

I opened the box to find the following contents: An easy build tray, frosting, cookie pieces, miniature Hershey bars, miniature Twizzlers, Jolly Rancher soft chews, peppermint Hershey Kisses, and some had candies shaped like Holly.

I wasn’t sure there was enough so I bought some more Twizzlers and Jubes.

When I saw how the pieces were set up, I was a little nervous. How was I going to get them apart without breaking anything? I guessed I could use frosting to repair anything if I needed to.

Luckily they actually came apart perfectly. You just bend them and the come apart. They are softer/moister then I expected which is probably why the didn’t break.

I laid out my train pieces before putting it together. I wanted to get an idea of how it all fit.

We all know 7 year olds express what is going on in their lives via their art. So, I decided to derail my train. I made a Christmas Train Wreck.

The building tray is helpful to get the train to stand upright. It has slots to put the pieces in to hold it’s form. This actually proved challenging for a train wreck.    Christmas train wreck

Once I got the train assembled, I filled the train cars with candy. Next I covered the tray with the remainder of the frosting.  The final step was to just dump candy all over the place.

It was fun to make. Family members think it is adorable. And I feel like I have made a statement about the lack of Christmas around me. I feel like my Christmas Spirit has been derailed. That I am having a Christmas Train Wreck.

I could not have expressed it better.
