Seven Is Magic

Seven is Magic shaped my life. I am pretty sure I was 7 when I used this book in Language Arts.

Some of my greatest ideas unknowingly came from Seven Is Magic. I think it is fun to attach notes to balloons. It also, features the car I always draw when trying to draw a car

I never was good at drawing but here is an idea of what  I used to draw.

Seven Is Magic had such an impact on who I am that I spent years searching for the book. In past years it was not always easy to find an old school book. With today’s technology, I either found it on Amazon or E-bay.  I can not tell you how excited I was when I found it! The anticipation was killing me as I waited on the mail each day.

Seven is Magic was Published in 1969 and reprinted in 1973 by Ginn and Company.

The book is broken up into 6 chapters each ending with exercises for the student to practice skills. The book also has a list in the back of words that would be considered new words to the reader.

Book-Length Story

Grandfather and I

Freckles children not to bully. Ted and the Telephone taught children why it is important to write down phone messages. Ted confuses times and street names causing his mom to go to the wrong place at the wrong time. Stories like Space Man kept Seven is Magic new. It was published just after man walked on the moon.

The Boy and the Wolf is what I have always called The Boy Who Cried Wolf. I am not sure if it is a condensed version by the original author or if it is just simply another version.

My favorite story in Seven is Magic is The Elves and the Shoemaker. The Elves and the Shoemaker teaches children about helping each other and being of service. The Elves were secretly making shoes in the night when the shoemaker did not have money for leather. The shoemaker stayed up to see what was happening and discovered they had no shoes or jackets. The shoemaker made the Elves shoes and jackets to thank them.

Is there a book from your childhood that had a huge impact on you? What is it? Have you tried to find it? Tell me in the comments.
