Excalibur

Excalibur

On our recent trip to Las Vegas, we stayed at the Excalibur. The first reason was to have fun, the second reason was the great room rates.

We opted to pay a small fee to guarantee an early check-in at 9:00 AM.  We arrived at 9:11 AM and were in our room and unpacked by 10:00 AM. Regular check-in is 3:00 PM. I can’t imagine having to find stuff to do for 6 hours before we could put our things away.

The only drawback was not having a selection of rooms. Hubby likes to be up high. We got the 4th floor. (unless we wanted to come back at 3 and check if any were available.) Nope, we paid for early check-in for a reason.

Excalibur

The beds were super comfortable! Like the best night of sleep ever! But I am not sure which was better, the mattress or the pillows. OMG, THE PILLOWS!

Excalibur

I can honestly tell you that before our stay at Excalibur, I have never been compelled to pull a pillow out of a pillow case while staying at a hotel.

Excalibur

The question is, do any of my 7’s know where to find this pillow? I MUST HAVE THEM, like 4 of em to be exact! (2 for me and 2 for hubs)

Excalibur

Can you see where I am going here? The towels and wash clothes were sooooooo plush! Better then our best ones at home. How is this a hotel and how are the rooms this reasonable?

Bart insisted on the TerraVino photo. It is the brand of bar soap, shower gel/ shampoo, and body lotion in the rooms. He says he is going to get on-line and find it!

Excalibur

If there is something MGM Resorts got perfect, it is the beds, pillows, toiletries, and linens! A++++++

Excalibur

This pool was the view from our room.  I would say the only drawback on the room was hearing everything on the loudspeaker in our room. BUT, the only times the pool was open that we were in our room was when we checked in and in the mornings before going on our next adventure.

Excalibur

On the backside of the pool outside our window, was a waterslide pool! How cool is that! No, we didn’t hit the pools. For the record there are like 4 or 5 pools and hot tubs. Some pools are adults only.

There were several stores. We loved the toy stores!

We did the hydro-massages. (Vitality Aqua Massage is near the food court.) Very relaxing. They guy was really nice and we ran into him at the Miracle Mile shops the next day. We talked about repeating the hydro-massages, but the show we were seeing didn’t let out early enough.

On prior visits, when the kids were in tow, we would eat at the Tournament of Kings.

Excalibur offers an all you can eat all day buffet wristband for less then the price of going for lunch and dinner. We skipped it because we  were much to busy on adventures to be tied down to one place for all our meals.

We did eat at Hot Dog on a Stick in the food court around midnight.

When we tried to make a purchase at the 24/7 store and charge it to our room, we were told our id’s didn’t match our room number. (Even though we had a photo of our door with room number.) Do you want to talk about having a heart attack? We made our purchase via other means and then canceled our plans in order to make a b-line to our room. Our keys still worked and there were no surprise guests,  so it was all good.

The only draw back to that was our room rate was to include a credit to Drenched Bar and Grill. We had planned to eat there, but when we had issues trying to charge to our room at 24/7 we didn’t bother.

We opted to pay a small fee (while making reservations)  to guarantee a late check-out as late as 3:00 PM. Normal check-out is 11:00 AM.

We stayed until around 2:30 PM. We utilized the text check-out to avoid the lines. You can also check-out via their website on your phone.  It was quick and painless. We were e-mailed a receipt shortly thereafter.

I have seen reviews on-line where people have given negative opinions on the early check-in and late check-out. I can not tell you how nice it was to not have to worry about what we were going to do for 6 hours when we just drove about 8 hours. We might have been exhausted with no where to sleep. As for the check-out, we are night owls. It was nice to not have to set an alarm, wake-up naturally, and take our time to get moving.

I am going to say over the years I had previously stayed at the Sands (RIP), Circus Circus, the Luxor, Palace Station, and the Stratosphere.

While I dream of someday staying at the Venetian or Palazzo and hubby dreams of Aria, I think our next Vegas Vacation will land us at the Excalibur!
